EATC goes beyond its routine way of working, stepping up the efforts, to support Germany, France, Spain and Italy with the Indo-Pacific activities 2024 (IPA24).
Colonel Paolo Pizzuti, Deputy Head of EATC’s operational division, is leading the IPA24 team. He highlights that “EATC will provide 24/7 support to all the Indo-Pacific activities. Some re-enforcement measures have been established ensuring round-the-clock air transport and air-to-air refuelling expertise during the peak phases. EATC’s mission control center will accurately follow the missions and timely assist the crews in case of need. We will also welcome two German liaison officers in the mission control team. They will be in close contact with their national headquarters, coordinating between us at EATC and their airbase back home.”
The routes to Australia, either eastbound or westbound, are complex and need thorough attention. EATC established eight different “movement plans” covering each single step of the air-to-air refuelling ferry and logistic movement plan to get the fighters to the different destinations in the region. During all phase of IPA24, EATC’s experts are in close contact with the national movement centers, coordinating the air-to-air refuelling and logistical requests to support the actual exercises and visits.
Colonel Pizzuti adds that “in close cooperation with the national experts, my team has built a complete overview of the national needs, broke-down into individual missions. But we are not only concentrating on air-to-air refuelling and air transport needs. The aeromedical evacuation team has also taken the necessary preparatory steps to evacuate at all moment any patients taking part in the Indo-Pacific activities.”
