EATC’s Lighthouse Project: Green Flag 23-10

From 17 to 27 September 2023, EATC is running the second rendezvous of its A400M Lighthouse Project during the exercise Green Flag 23-10 in the US. The LHP was officially launched in June 2023 in Orléans (France) when multinational A400M contingents from EATC’s member nations practiced cross-activities during high visibility air mobility events. This second rendezvous in the US offers a number of complex opportunities to EATC and to the participating German and Spanish A400M contingents. One of the main pillars is the cross-maintenance domain. The German maintenance organisation leads the multinational maintenance teams during the event. This entails that the Spanish technicians follow German procedures as one and only unit, regardless the flag of the aircraft. The overall basis is the “EATC Cross-Maintenance Operations Manual” (EXOM) and the bilateral agreements to mutually recognize the services.

On Saturday, 23 September 2023, the Spanish A400M had a technical problem. German and Spanish technicians inspected the aircraft together, looked for a solution and repaired the technical issues. The German maintenance organisation supervised and cleared the various steps of the process whereas an EATC support team monitored the cross-maintenance challenge.

A perfect example of cross-maintenance and of what EATC and the LHP stand for: interoperability, effectiveness and efficiency!
