In the spotlight: EATC’s recently appointed Deputy Commander

Late September 2020,Brigadier General Paul Desair took over the function of Deputy Commander EATC, entering uncharted waters with EATC. Read here how General Desair reflects on EATC.

General Desair, how did you perceive EATC when you took office late September 2020? What were your thoughts when you entered for the first time the headquarters of this multinational command?

When I took up the responsibilities of Deputy Commander EATC, I felt privileged and proud. The warm welcome by the senior leadership and the valuable exchanges with my predecessor allowed me to adapt easily. I quickly felt at home in this new international environment. The outstanding introductory briefings and numerous conversations with the key personnel gave me a good understanding of what this unique headquarters is able to do: very impressive, also inspiring.

Exploring uncharted waters indeed, but ready to engage with confidence new challenges and tasks, right from the start.

How do you perceive EATC four months later, after you set the course for your next three years in office?

Although affected by Covid-19, EATC shows resilience and the ability to keep up the workload and operational tempo. The combination of a motivated staff and inspiring leadership allows EATC to push the boundaries, ensure the 24/7 operational status and affirm itself as recognized centre of expertise for air mobility.

EATC proudly looks back on outstanding performances and great achievements of the last decade. The time has come to consolidate and establish a promising future for EATC. Therefore, we need to explore new horizons, support and monitor the development of new projects, search for new opportunities and broaden collaboration with existing and/or new partners. I look forward to delivering added value in all these domains.

What is EATC to you in only five words?

An operational, knowledgeable, unique and inspiring force-multiplier!
