On 9 July 2026, the European Air Transport Command (EATC) welcomed a German Defence Committee delegation to its headquarters in Eindhoven for an overview of the Command’s current activities and future capabilities.
The delegation was welcomed by Brigadier General Frank Best, Chief of Staff of EATC. Among the distinguished guests were Mr Markus Otto, Chairman of the Board of European Air Transport Leipzig GmbH, Mr Jordi Boto, Chief Executive Officer of Elbe Flugzeugwerke, and Major General (Ret.) Markus Kurczyk.
The visit began with a comprehensive briefing on EATC’s mission, its role in coordinating multinational air transport, air-to-air refuelling, and aeromedical evacuation missions, as well as its ongoing development to meet future operational requirements. The delegation also visited the Mission Control Centre (MICON), where they gained first-hand insight into the Command’s operational planning and mission management processes.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Multinational MRTT Unit (MMU), where they were given the opportunity to tour an A330 MRTT aircraft and learn more about one of Europe’s key strategic air mobility capabilities.
The visit concluded with a discussion on current developments and future perspectives in European military air transport, underlining the importance of close cooperation between military organisations and the defence industry in strengthening European air mobility.
