EATC supports Local Authorities and Neighbours Days at Eindhoven Air Base

The European Air Transport Command (EATC) was pleased to support its host, Eindhoven Air Base, during the 2026 Local Authorities and Neighbours Days, held on 29 and 30 May. The two-day programme offered an opportunity to strengthen ties with regional partners and the local community, while highlighting the importance of air mobility for security and mobility.

On Friday, around 150 local council members, public officials, and entrepreneurs from the region were welcomed at the air base. Colonel Daan Boissevain, Commander of Air Mobility Command, and Roel Hellemons, CEO of Eindhoven Airport NV, briefed the guests on the role of the airport and air base. They underlined that their importance reaches far beyond the region: the military air base is an essential link in the defence of NATO territory, while Eindhoven Airport serves as a gateway to one of the Netherlands’ key economic regions.

On Saturday, the focus shifted to the neighbours of the air base. Nearly 1,500 residents, young and old, visited Eindhoven Air Base to learn more about Air Mobility Command and its partners. Through displays, explanations, and personal exchanges, visitors gained a closer look at the people and capabilities behind military air mobility.

For EATC, the event was a valuable opportunity to engage with local authorities and neighbours, support its host air base, and underline the importance of openness, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
