EATC Employs Defensity College Working Students

The European Air Transport Command (EATC) is proud to accommodate three working students from the Defensity College programme.

Defensity College is an initiative of the Dutch government that enables higher professional education and university students to work part-time for the Ministry of Defence. Students are assigned to positions aligned with their academic background, allowing the Ministry to benefit from emerging expertise while providing students with valuable practical experience in their respective fields.

Demy (23): “I work almost a year now under the LEGAD, or legal advisor, of the EATC. Normally, a workplace only lasts six months, but I really enjoy the multinational atmosphere here and have already learned a lot. I just graduated from my masters in International Law and Global Governance at the Tilburg University. My job at the EATC is to support the legal advisor, help with the creation of documents and policy and answer any legal questions that exist in relation to every possible legal subject. However, my specific expertise is in relation to privacy and data protection. Therefore, I helped to establish a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) matrix, in which all data processes are contained. Unfortunately, I will be leaving the EATC soon, as my time within the Defensity College program is almost done, but I gained a lot of experience working here in the international domain under an experienced LEGAD.”

Lidewij (24): “I recently started under the LEGAD after having worked with both the Navy and the Land Forces. After talking with Demy, I got in contact with the EATC and I am curious to learn more about the Air Force. I am almost two years in the Defensity College program.  My study background is in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University in Delft and I just started my graduation, which will last until June. My job at the EATC is to support the legal advisor, just as Demy, but from a different perspective, since I have no legal background. I am looking forward to my time here and hope to be a valuable addition.”

Duncan (22): “My employment at the EATC started with an internship for my Bachelor Safety and Security Management. During my internship I applied for a job at Defensity College, after finishing my military training and my internship I continued my work at the EATC. At the moment I am focussing on Occupational Health and Safety within the EATC building. Occupational Health and Safety focusses mainly on ergonomics, workplace safety, mental health, prevention and safety awareness. I am looking forward to continue my work on making the EATC a safe place for all employees.”

The three working students contribute valuable expertise to the EATC team, reflecting the breadth of knowledge fostered through the Defensity College programme. EATC acknowledges their efforts and looks forward to their continued professional development within our dynamic, multinational environment.
