Aeromedical evacuation experts met in Eindhoven
The Aeromedical Evacuation Control Centre (AECC) hosted for the third time its coordination meeting with the national aeromedical specialists from the “National Patient Evacuation Coordination Centers” (NPECCs). Under the chair of Col. Dr. Moll, head of the AECC branch, the participants discussed standardized procedures and reflected the achievements and lessons learned in strategic aeromedical evacuation. The future development and possibilities for optimizing this essential part of the evacuation chain were also addressed, as the next generation of medical evacuation assets like A400M and A330MRTT are getting into focus. Another subject of interest were the blessings and burdens of cross national and interoperability flights.
This forum of aeromedical evacuation specialists led to a fruitful exchange of expertise. It highlighted the need of a continuous and close communication in the aeromedical network. The meeting is considered to be implemented in the annual agenda of EATC.
The Aeromedical Evacuation Control Centre ….
…. is composed of a multinational team. Requests for aeromedical evacuation are transmitted to the AECC through the national NPECCs. Then the AECC, together with the NPECCs, choose the best suitable solution to meet the patient’s needs with the right medical equipment, medical crew composition and air traffic requirements. This is the common goal of the close cooperation between the AECC and NPECCs.
