On 16 March 2022, Major General Andreas Schick, Commander EATC, was welcomed at the Belgian Defence Joint Staff by the Assistant Chief of Staff Operations and Training, Major General Vincent Descheemaker. The generals addressed multiple topics of shared interest, including the roles that EATC could play in crisis operations. The results are based on a study and experiences from the Kabul evacuation operations and the recent support missions related to the war in Ukraine.
In the afternoon, General Schick met with the Belgian Air Chief, Major General Thierry Dupont. They exchanged on identical topics with emphasis on air component responsibilities like EATC’s support to the Belgian transport fleet transition in 2021. The generals also discussed projects such as the MMU integration into EATC, A400M exercises, cargo load clearances and cross maintenance activities.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors addressed the handover of EATC’s high level committee’s chairmanship to the Belgian Air Chief in June 2022.
