10 000 patients evacuated!

September 2019 marks the anniversary of the 10.000th patient evacuated by EATC!

This is one of EATC’s undeniable success thanks to EATC’s responsive and effective Aeromedical Evacuation Control Centre (AECC). The medical team offers a 24/7 readiness to the member nations. They pool and share aeromedical evacuation teams and assets and most importantly always look for solutions in accordance with medical needs and operational situation.

So when in September 2019, the 10.000th patient, an Italian military, got a medical situation in Kosovo, the Italian National Patient Evacuation Coordination Centre contacted immediately AECC. The AECC reacted without delay : a Dutch flight nurse checked the patient status and available flights. In coordination with the national medical authorities, EATC tasked an Italian C130 in a dedicated configuration for Aeromedical Evacuation to perform the evacuation mission. This choice was the best suitable solution with regard to the patient’s condition. The aircraft was based in Pisa and took off to Kosovo. And, in only 24 hours after the Italian request reached EATC, the patient was safely transported to the Roma Military hospital.

We are proud of our Aeromedical Evacuation Control Centre and their responsiveness to evacuate patients. We are proud of the past 9 years’ achievements and of evacuating successfully 10.000 patients!

We will continue to share expertise among the seven nations’ medical services and we will thrive to evacuate injured or sick soldiers from all over the world in support of our member nations when these are committed to theatre of operations.
