The Director Multinational Medical Coordination Center/European Medical Command visits EATC

On Tuesday, 20 July 2021, Brigadier General Stéphane Gourg, Chief of Staff EATC, warmly welcomed Brigadier General Dr Stefan Kowitz, Director Multinational Medical Coordination Center / European Medical Command (MMCC/EMC). BG Kowitz was accompanied by Colonel Dr Billy Pruett, Chief Patient Movement Requirements Center-East of the US Transportation Command*, Ramstein Airbase (Germany).

The Director MMCC/EMC was in particular interested in EATC’s aeromedical evacuation (AE) processes and the roles of the member nations. EATC’s AECC** is a unique centre of expertise in the field of military AE, with an operational experience of nearly 12.000 managed patient movement requests.

The generals discussed possibilities for cooperation between the two entities and, in particular, AECC’s participation in the upcoming MMCC/EMC exercise “Resilient Medical Interface 2021” (REMI21). This exercise will take place in November 2021 in Koblenz (Germany). It will offer an excellent opportunity for the two commands to identify future fields of cooperation.
