In January 2024, EATC published a new edition of the EGOM – EATC’s Ground Operations Manual. The 2024 version provides updates to ensure compliance with the latest regulations.
The first EGOM edition was launched in 2013. The aim was to standardise ground handling procedures so that cargo could be received, checked, prepared and subsequently loaded for air transport at any of the member nations’ main operating bases. Thanks to the EGOM, the national handling units are able to handle processes for all EATC aircraft without any further guidance from either the sending or the receiving nation. The same applies for passengers.
Each year, EATC reviews the manual in close cooperation with ground handling experts from the member nations. The aim of course is to keep it up to date with the latest provisions and to harmonise the standards. But EATC is also constantly looking for ways to provide a user-friendly manual, taking into account national needs. In the forthcoming years, efforts will focus on improving the EGOM through wider digitization, thereby increasing connectivity among the ground handling community.
EATC’s Ground Operations Manual brings much needed interoperability in handling passengers and cargo! This is of paramount importance as ground handling is key for safe, secure and efficient air transport missions.
