On 31 March 2022, General Luca Goretti, Italian Air Chief, warmly welcomed Major General Andreas Schick, Commander EATC, for bilateral talks. The generals discussed how Italy can integrated into EATC’s initiative to offer a more comprehensive multinational planning and coordination during a crisis. The subject was also addressed in the context of EU strategic compass. Moreover the interlocutors exchanged views on where the cooperation with and the support to the Italian Air Force can be improved.
General Schick and the Air Operational Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Alberto Biavati, also took up these subject. Furthermore they discussed cross-para activities and EATC’s shuttle system project, with the Pisa airbase as a potential hub.
After his visit at the Air Force headquarters, General Schick was welcomed at the Joint Forces Operational Command by the Deputy Commander, Lieutenant General Nicola Lanza de Cristoforis. They exchanged on the recent commitment of EATC in the redeployment from Afghanistan and the war in Ukraine.
This visit took place in the framework of “EATC’s outreach visits” to the seven member nations. These exchanges are organised on a regular basis to strengthen bilateral relations, discuss key subjects and approach common initiatives.
