German aeromedical evacuation mission of Ukrainian civilian patients

On Monday, 11 April 2022, EATC executed a German aeromedical evacuation mission of eleven wounded Ukrainian patients. The patients were among others wounded children and seriously injured adults. The children were accompanied by relatives.Patients and passengers were transported with a German A310 in aeromedical evacuation configuration from Rzeszow in South-East Poland to Cologne airbase (Germany). Then they were transferred by road to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

This was the first German aeromedical evacuation mission of patients injured in military attacks in Ukraine since the war started. It was also the first mission of this kind executed by EATC.

EATC’s aeromedical evacuation center was in direct and permanent contact with the Patient Coordination Center of the Bundeswehr Medical Service in Koblenz, as well as with the doctors directly involved in the evacuation mission. The mission itself was commanded and controlled by EATC’s mission control center.
