EATC’s Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) Control Centre (AECC) has reached a major milestone, coordinating its 20,000th Patient Movement Request (PMR) since becoming operational nearly 16 years ago.
The achievement underscores AECC’s enduring commitment to providing timely and effective aeromedical evacuation support for our participating nations (PNs) deployed troops and civilians alike. Over the years, AECC has coordinated patient movements from operational theatres including Kosovo, Afghanistan, the Sahel region and, more recently, Eastern Europe, as well as responding to emergencies worldwide arising from combat injuries, terrorist attacks and natural disasters.
Handling an average of over 1,250 PMRs each year, AECC has become a cornerstone of multinational AE coordination. Working closely with the PNs’ National Patient Evacuation Coordination Centres (NPECCs) and the flying units of their respective Air Forces, AECC has consistently translated AE’s guiding principle into action:
"Any Time – Any Place – Any Mission – Day or Night: Moving Patients, Saving Lives"
As the security environment continues to evolve, AECC is further strengthening its capabilities by streamlining procedures to increase the capacity to manage significantly higher volumes of patient movement requests. These efforts are designed to ensure AECC remains fully prepared to support our PNs’ operations effectively, including in the event of a large-scale collective defence scenario.
