On 15 March 2021, Major General Andreas Schick, Commander EATC, awarded the Silver Cross of Honour of German Armed Forces to French Lieutenant Colonel Yannick, shift leader at EATC Mission Control. The ceremony took place in a reduced setting at EATC headquarters.
MG Schick thanked LtCol Yannick in particular for his outstanding performance on 31 January 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. LtCol Yannick was responsible for the command and control of a German A310 mission, repatriating German citizens from Wuhan (China). However, he faced an extremely difficult situation, confronting multiple last minute changes, uncertainties and unpredictable challenges. LtCol Yannick addressed every single problem with expertise and commitment, ensuring the safe return of the German citizens to their home country.
MG Schick also thanked the MICON team on duty on that particular day. He highlighted their commitment for what EATC stands for: multinational cooperation.
