A new aeromedical evacuation asset enriches the EATC portfolio

On 28 October 2021, Luxembourg offered an additional aeromedical evacuation asset to EATC: a Bombardier Challenger 605. Only one day later, Germany urgently requested the asset to evacuate two patients from Niamey back to Hamburg and EATC executed the mission without delay on 30 October 2021.

Colonel Christian Guntsch, Head of EATC Mission Control, monitored the mission and complimented on the new asset. “This Challenger 605 completes perfectly EATC’s aeromedical evacuation portfolio. It offers a large operational flexibility, as well as more efficiency and effectiveness.” The Challenger 605 is operated through a contract by the Luxembourg Defense with the national air ambulance partner, the “Luxembourg Air Rescue”. It completes the offer of dedicated air ambulance Learjet 45XRs and is also based at Luxembourg Airport.

Colonel Guntsch underlines that “the range of the Challenger is longer and more missions can be flown without fuel or overnight stops, saving time to bring home the patients faster. This is of course extremely important when it comes to the evacuation of soldiers from the theatres of operation and overseas territories.”
