On 04 February 2019, General Duschène, Chief of Defence, welcomed Major General Marboeuf, Commander EATC, at his headquarters in Luxembourg.
The generals discussed Luxembourg’s contribution of aeromedical evacuation assets to EATC. Major General Marboeuf confirmed the capabilities as a reliable and professional asset to complete EATC’s portfolio. He also visited the “Luxembourg Air Rescue”, the organisation that provides the aeromedical evacuation on behalf of the Luxembourg Defense to the EATC nations.
Furthermore General Duschène and Major General Marboeuf had an outlook into future cooperation between the Luxembourg Defense and EATC. They addressed in particular Luxembourg’s new fleet capability, and in particular the arrival of the Luxembourg A400M in 2020. This aircraft will be integrated into the Luxembourg and Belgium A400M unit. Both nations will not only share logistics and maintenance expertise, but also pilots or loadmasters. In due time, the Luxembourg and Belgium assets will be transferred under EATC’s command and control.
This visit took place in the framework of ‘’EATC’s roadshows’’ to the seven member nations. The ‘’EATC roadshows’’ are organized on a regular basis to strengthen bilateral relations between EATC and its member nations. During a roadshow the partners discuss key subjects, find solutions together and approach common initiatives. This also results in an increased trust and confidence between the member nations and EATC.
