European Tactical Airlift Centre (ETAC) visits EATC

Thursday 24 August - 11:11h  |  News & Press updates

On 23 August 2017, Colonel José Luis Romero Allegue (Spanish Air Force) Commander of the European Tactical Airlift Centre (ETAC) was welcomed by the Commander EATC, Major General Pascal CHIFFOLEAU at EATC´s headquarters.

After the welcome a very constructive meeting was held with representatives of the Functional Division of the EATC. The discussions held will lead to formal cooperation procedures between the ETAC and the EATC. This will allow the EATC to effectively and efficiently support the ETAC as requested by the eleven  ETAC member nations through the ETAC/ETAP Technical Agreement signed in 2016.

The ETAC, officially opened on 8 June 2017 in Zaragoza – Spain, is a permanent multinational training centre executing the European Tactical Airlift Programme (ETAP). EATC will support ETAC with airlift training, personnel and also provides training syllabi, certifies courses and supervises the consistency of airlift training (all seven EATC member nations are members of ETAC). Furthermore, inside the ETAC C2 structure, two permanent key positions are assigned to EATC personnel (“course director” and “training supervisor”) – the two posts are activated during trainings and exercises.

The major ETAC events supported by EATC are:

·         ETAP-T a tactical Training tailored to train European tactical airlift crews

·         ETAP-C a tactical training Course

·         ETAP-I  a course that trains tactical Instructor pilots.

·         ETAP-S a Symposium to exchange experience between the different nations.
